Five commonly used wellhead tools

Wellhead tools are tools used for wellhead operations on the drilling floor, mainly including:

Links, elevators, slips and safety slips, manual tongs, roller kelly bushing, etc. 
The proficiency and operation of wellhead tools is very important.

and oil workers must deal with them every day in drilling and workover operations. 

FIRST:Links

API Links

The link  is a special wellhead tool for lifting,

and lowering the pipe string hanging elevator during drilling and workover operations. 

It requires strong bearing capacity, impact resistance, light weight, safety and reliability. 
 The upper ears of the link are hung,on the auxiliary hooks on both sides of the big hook.

and the lower part is hung on the lifting ears of the elevator. 

The connection part between the link, the elevator and the hook is in accordance with the SY5288=2000 regulations. 

There are two types of links:weldless links and perfection links.

perfection link lifting rings are often,used in shallow wells,

and the bearing capacity is not more than 1350kN
The commonly used lifting rings for drilling and mining equipment are DH1350 and SH1350.

The weldless links is forged as a whole

and the material is made of ultra-high-strength steel,and the perfection links is forged and welded by high-quality alloy steel. 
Both rings are carefully heat-treated and surface-treated for high levels of strength and toughness. 

SECOND:Elevator

Elevator is a wellhead tool.

used to directly hang pipe strings during drilling and workover operations.

It is connected with links, and different pipe strings are suspended with different diameters. 
FOR INSTANCE:According to the hanging pipe string, it is divided into:

drill pipe elevator, casing elevator and tubing elevator; 

I have Side door elevator

CD type side door elevator is composed of main body and valve and other parts. 

The shutter is connected with the main body through a pin shaft

which plays the role of opening and closing the aperture of the elevator. 
When the shutter is closed.the upper and lower locking pins are automatically locked with the main body. To open, press down on the latch handle and pull outward with slight force. There are double insurance limit blocks on the upper end of the main body. 

When the upper end face is loaded.the pipe string presses the limit block, and the valve cannot be opened or closed. 
Only the pressure bearing surface of the main body has no load,and the limit block can move up and down. The valve can be opened and closed freely, and the limit block plays a role in safety protection. 

  • A pair of safety pins is attached to each set of elevators. 
  • After the rings are inserted into the ear holes on both sides of the main body.
  • the safety pins are inserted to prevent the rings from coming out and ensure the safety of lifting
  • and lowering the pipe string.

Center Latch elevator

Compared with the side door elevator, the operation of the center latch elevator is more convenient. 
It is mainly composed of the left page of the main body, the right page of the main body,:

a lock pin, a safety handle, a valve pin, a spring, etc. 
The outer rectangular arms of the left,and right pages of the main body can be hung with hoisting rings,

and the lock pin integrates the left,and right pages of the main body into one body,

and the safety handle ensures that the lock pin will not be opened during the drilling process.

  • We have use of  Elevators
  • (1) Before use
  • it should be placed in a dry and ventilated place to avoid corrosion and damage to the product.
  • (2) After use, remove the oil, sludge and other dirt on the elevator, and check for damage.
  • The inner ring and end face of the elevator should be lubricated with oil and rust-proof oil.
  • and stored in a ventilated and dry place indoors. Corrosive cleaning agents are allowed.

Precautions

(1) The operating temperature should not be lower than -40℃. 
(2) It is not allowed to drop and smash.so that the elevator will be deformed and mechanically damaged. 
(3) It is strictly forbidden to perform mechanical processing such as welding:

grinding, cutting, drilling, etc. on the main body of the elevator. 
(4) The wear of the stressed part exceeds 1.5mm, and it should be repaired or stopped. 
(5) The specifications of the elevators are consistent with the size of the drilling tools.

the load steps are flat without serious deformation and wear, the loose-leaf pins and safety pins are lubricated, and the shutters are flexible, safe and reliable. 
(6) Safety bolts and small hearts must be used.

when tripping out or running casings. 

When sitting on elevators.

it is forbidden to slam and smash, and it is strictly forbidden to operate the buckle. 
(7) It is forbidden to use overload, and it is forbidden to buckle the rope sleeve in the elevator to lift heavy objects. 
(8) When the elevator sits,on the turntable.

it should avoid the square tile lock pin and straighten.

it so that the two ends are evenly stressed.
